Sampling Jeb's

At long last the mysteriously elusive Jeb's Waffle's and Ribs finally opened its doors last Thursday.

Shawn claims the turkey club he devoured was one of the best he'd ever had. Score one point for the home team. I helped out with the cooked-to-perfection onion rings.

Astro Turfing the App Store

The last time I criticized AstroTurfing, I caught a surprising amount of flak. I guess honesty and integrity are overrated these days anyway.

So, I'm updating my morals to get with the times-and to applaud Reverb Communications, a PR firm that's also gotten with the times by having its interns positively rate clients' apps in the Apple Store.

San Jose City camp water is tainted

For the third time in four years, a routine check of the water wells used for drinking at the popular San Jose Family Camp uncovered E. coli.

So far, there have been no reports of illness. Officials closed the camp, in the Sierras near Yosemite National Park, as they repaired a tear in the main water tank liner where the E. coli was originating.

Light Snow Slows Yosemite's Wildcat Fire

Yosemite -- Snow and light rain on Thursday helped to slow the Wildcat Fire in Yosemite National Park.

PG&E 'Smart' Meter Comes to Twain Harte

As I sit here to write, I am still shaking and mad as a wet hornet. We were just accosted by PG&E. I feel violated and I'm angry, very angry about it.

I wasy lying in bed fast asleep when I'm awakened by a huge boom noise coming from outside the room I'm sleeping in. I bolt upright in bed, throw on my shoes and run out the door, only to find a man standing near my electric meter and the old meter is laying on the ground.

Knight Fire Reaches 10 Percent Containment

Sonora, CA -- With the use of a Cobra helicopter with infrared capabilities the U.S. Forest Service is now able to estimate the 1,643 acre Knight Fire is 10 percent contained.

Due to the amount of firefighting equipment and limited access to the general area the Sheriff's Office is limiting travel with a periodic road closure at the intersection of Italian Bar Rd. and 4N01.
