Dedicated firefighters have worked hard to contain the Knight Fire, which has been burning since July 26th. Twain Harte is fortunate to have such a fine team of fire fighters who have worked tirelessly on this and other fires so far this year.
The initial cause of the blaze is still under investigation. There are 443 firefighters working to extinguish the fire, which has thus far charred 6,130 acres. The fire is 80% contained. It is estimated the fire will be fully contained by Sunday, August 9th, 2009 around 6:00 p.m.
Incident Information System – Knight Fire
As of six- hours ago…
Progress continues on the Knight Fire. A thermal infrared imaging flight was conducted over the fire last night. This technology, used in support of wildland fire management, determined diminished heat within the interior of the fire and along containment lines.
Today, hand crews will be in full mop-up mode working on containment lines toward the center of the fire, and rehabilitation of hand and dozer lines will occur to help prevent erosion when wet weather patterns return to the area.
The South Central Sierra Interagency Incident Management Team is currently in transition, turning the management of the Knight Fire over to a local Stanislaus National Forest Type 3 incident management team.

Exciting news, Twain-Harte.info has moved to a new location, with a new look and the best news, it’s interactive, so you can participate too.
The hubby and I have been talking about moving Twain-Harte.info for a long time now and just when I had about given up, Shawn surprises me with a brand new blog on a domain we’ve been sitting on for ages. So, be sure to bookmark this new site. It will have the same Twain Harte content, pictures and information but with an entirely different look and more functionality. I’m so excited.
I invite you to look around and post your comments. Some of you may remember the old Twain Harte Times, it was the predecessor to the Sierra Mountain Times, now owned by our good friend Tim McCaffrey. The Twain Harte Times has been dead for quite sometime now, so we felt it was time for a comeback. I’ll be posting my comments and sharing my adventures as usual. We don’t have the news page moved over yet, but it will soon find a new home here too.
Once the conversion is complete, Twain-Harte.info will be redirected to this new site, until it is sold.
