I attended the March Against Monsanto rally in Sonora today. It was disappointing at best. There were fewer people than turned out in May, but what really burns my biscuits is the movement seems to have been co-opted by the Green Party. This is not about parties!
We saw a bunch of people playing bongo drums wearing dread locks, just looking dirty. Then some guy spewing stuff about the Green Party and how they were they only party that cares.
I was turned off by the entire thing, so I left. If they want to exclude other parties and make it about the Green Party, so be it — but I can tell you that a lot of people are going to be turned off by it. We need to keep the focus on getting GMO’s out of our food supply, not on party affiliation.
I was really disappointed to find that the only other Monsanto Marches in California were being held in San Jose, Sacramento and San Francisco. I expected to find one in Angels Camp or at least Modesto. What’s wrong with you people in Modesto? Don’t you care about what you eat?
We have really got to get serious about stopping Monsanto before it’s too late.
I’m a libertarian and I care. You don’t have to be a Green Party member to care about what you eat, but if you want to get the GMO’s out of our food it’s going to take all of us working together, regardless of party affiliation.
Please call or write your legislators today. We have a right to know what’s in our food.
