Weather Patterns

We’ve had some interesting weather patterns this week. For the past several days, the rain begins softly falling just before dusk, it gradually picks up steam and rains steadily all evening long, until just before dawn. At dawn, the sun comes out and dries everything out, just in time for the birds to come for breakfast.

Sunday and Monday the sky was a beautiful blue, the sun was shining and the air was crisp. Today, was a bit overcast and just shy of gloomy.

Tomorrow’s forecast calls for thunderstorms — so, if you are heading out to work in the morning, take a moment to be sure your computer is turned off and be sure to unplug your television, unless you are using a good surge protector. Spending as little as $40 can go a long way in helping to protect your expensive electronic equipment.

Our current temperature in Twain Harte — 49 degrees.

This is a good time to curl up in front of the fire with a good book but do try to get outside and walk a little, when the sun peaks out.

We left TH on Sunday evening. The power had just gone off around 6pm. Has the power been restored? What’s the snow level?

    Hi Jim,

The power is still out, there are downed trees that haven’t been cleared and roads that have not been plowed. We have 5-6 foot snow drifts in places. It’s still pretty ugly up this way.

Mymotherlode reports, “Power outages will likely continue to be a problem over the coming days. This morning there are 9,800 PG&E customers without power in Tuolumne County and 2,500 without electricity in Calaveras County.

The East Sonora area has 3,174 without power, Twain Harte has 3,339, Mi Wuk has 1,430, Tuolumne City has 695, Long Barn has 675, Groveland has 310, Soulsbyville has 150 and Columbia has 60.

In Calaveras County, 2,400 of the customers without power are in Arnold. There is still no estimated restoration time for the outages.”

    It’s currently 32 degrees.
