Twain Harte is experiencing perfect weather currently and the good news is temperatures will remain in the mid-80s to low 90s in the coming week through Father’s Day.

The 1st Annual Twain Harte Blues Festival scheduled for June 14th has been cancelled. However, the 42nd Annual Father’s Day Fly In held in Columbia on Saturday, June 14, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Columbia Airport should be a wonderful event, if the weather is any indication. Participants will enjoy airplane & helicopter rides, and view the classic airplanes on display. Enjoy a pancake breakfast, live music, a spaghetti dinner and many other events will be conducted through-out the day.

Note: The Columbia Airport is approximately a half-mile walk from the park, so be sure to wear your walking shoes.

Wanted: Locally Grown Organic Foods

Posted by Annie in Organic on June 10, 2008

Our family has recently discovered the benefits of eating organic foods. We have been able to find raw milk and organic eggs at Save Mart in Sonora. (However, we would prefer to buy our eggs directly from the farmer.)

We belong to the Sonora Freecyle list, but it is against the rules to make our request there. So, I’ll post it here. If anyone knows of a place to get locally grown organic beef, poultry, eggs and produce, please write or call 586-9652, with the details.

Thank you for your assistance. Response posted below…

Oak Valley Dairy

Oak Valley Dairy, owned by Lloyd and Babette Pareira, along with their children responded to my request. Their family owned and operated farm offers organic butter, milk, eggs and roasting hens to area residents and even some local restaurants. For more information the Pareira Family can be reached at (209) 722-1149.
